She received her Call to the Bar in 2004 and completed her articles at the Criminal Law Office of Legal Aid Manitoba. Upon completion of her articles, she joined Legal Aid’s Child Protection Law Office in 2004 where she went on to spend 13 years, as a Staff Attorney and then as the Supervising Attorney, representing primarily Indigenous clients in Child Protection proceedings in the Court of Queens Bench.
Shameem was born and raised in Winnipeg but has travelled to and lived in different countries. Her travels have given her a unique perspective and she brings a passion for people to her practice.
When she is not working, Shameem enjoys watching football and supporting local businesses by purchasing from Winnipeg bakeries or buying locally handmade crafted items.
