Legal Assistant

Cochrane Saxberg is a full service law firm located in downtown Winnipeg. We have an immediate opening for a Legal Assistant to assist with our Child Protection Department. We are looking for a long term employee who wants to grow with our firm.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • File management including creation/maintenance of electronic and physical files.
  • General administrative duties such as filing, scanning, printing, faxing and email documents.
  • Preparing legal/court documents and correspondence based on written instruction, verbal direction and precedents.
  • Assist with general practice management, including managing calendars, billing, and scheduling meetings.
  • Reception coverage and other office related duties.
  • Working in the day-to-day support of a lawyer’s practice; and Qualifications
  • Legal experience or training would be an asset. In lieu of legal training or experience, we will accept candidates who have a University Degree.
  • Experience in Child Protection Law would be an asset.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize workload.
  • Excellent writing skills including proper spelling, grammar and punctuation.
  • Exercise critical thinking, with attention to detail and ability to consistently produce high quality work.
  • Exceptional computer software skills using Microsoft Office.
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • A strong work ethic, delivering service with energy and enthusiasm.
  • Eager to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to take initiative when necessary and to interact with other employees to assist them as needed.
