Biography

Raven-Dominique is a Queer, Anishinaabe-Kwe and Métis woman. She is a member of Poplar River First Nation and has Métis roots in southeastern Manitoba.

Raven-Dominique was called to the Bar on June 10, 2020. She articled at the Child Protection Law Office of Legal Aid Manitoba. During this time, she gained experience in the areas of Child Protection, Family Law, Criminal Law, drafting and litigation.

Raven-Dominique graduated with her Juris Doctor from the University of Manitoba in June 2019. Prior to this, she completed the Program of Legal Studies for Native People at the University of Saskatchewan. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Native Studies and Family Social Science from the University of Manitoba.

Throughout her time at law school, Raven-Dominique was an active volunteer with organizations such as the Manitoba Law Students’ Association, Manitoba Indigenous Law Students’ Association, Canada Law Games, Indigenous Law Students’ Association of Canada, and the Student Pipeline Action Committee.

Raven-Dominique was selected to participate in the Faculty of Law’s first externship at the Legal Help Centre. She was a student extern for the Fall 2018 semester, completing 14-weeks of practical legal work experience. She assisted clients with family matters, small claims and drafting. She continues to volunteer with the Legal Help Centre in her spare time.

Raven-Dominique likes cooking, berry picking, playing with her dogs, being outdoors and cold weather.
